Do you think that American culture is popular in Japan?
Jack Bauer so cool! Oo, Oo, Jason-sensei, do you like Jackass? I like Jackass. Mother Theresa is my mother. These are typical one liners my students feed me. I also get, you look-a-like Tom Cruise. So if the popularity of American TV and movies equals culture, then yes.

What kind of American entertainment is popular? (Movies, music, art, etc…)
TV and movies. We also like play rock, paper, scissors but we call it janken.

What American entertainers do you like? (Actors, singers, writers, etc…)
24 is pretty in vogue, Spiderman just came out, that guy from prisonbreak, I see BranJolina in a lot of commercials, not together but you know. Really depends on what is current. Singers may be popular, but not as popular as Japanese popstars.

When you go have fun with your friends, what kind of American entertainment things do you do?
Drink ourselves into oblivion. Oh wait, twelve years old, um, school is hard so we don't have fun. If you still consider baseball and basketball American, we do that.

Do you think that Japanese culture is popular in America?
Well they would answer no until I told them otherwise. Like how my little sister loves Naruto and I can eat sushi just about anywhere.

Kenta's mom made a home video. Just kidding, at twelve to fifteen they have no idea and don't care either. School dictates every second of their lives till 18.

Between Japanese and American movies, which one are there more of? Which one do you like better?
This question needs a bit of clarification. Obliviously there are more American movies, but if you look at the releases from last year Japanese movies have outsold American ones at the box office for the first time in like twenty years. If you are asking which are there more of showing the theaters in Japan, Japanese because not everything is automatically going to be a hit here. Over the entire history of Hollywood and in rentals, US.

Which has more songs? Which do you like?
More airplay? Don't know, but they play a lot of English songs over and over again. So for current, I would say Japanese.

I can't even get them to properly pronounce fun, they keep on saying dog shit. I would guess it is annoying since about one out of six will accomplish some basic knowledge of Engish, 1 out of thirty to fifty will actually learn how to speak it by age twenty, and then forget everything by 35 to 40. Translate that into 5 out of 6 giggling like retards because they see fun and say ふん instead.
