It's hard to tell what you actually meant by that. Sometimes, figure of speech in english just doesn't go well in japanese, vice versa. "sad" in here could have a variety of meanings.

Gomen ne, (anata no) sushi wa dame deshita = bad, lousy, pathetic
or hen deshita = looked/tasted odd/funny
or mada mada desu = still a long way to go, not quite up to mark
