There are also several more Daibutsu in Japan

One is the standing Amitabha in Ushiku, Chiba-ken

Also in Kyushu ( Either Fukuoka or Miyazaki) there is a stone Medicine Buddha that overlooks the city, its also big.

Also there is another in a city famous for its bronze temple bells, forgot where.

I have been both myself, I feel the Nara one is very impressive but has that religious atmosphere and the history itself too, the Kamakura is big, but not as big as Nara, more like some of the big statues seen in China or large temples in some Asian countries. I guess the size of Nara was the influence of Tang China and in Asia where building a BIG Buddha statue was the fad.
