May I ask, have you ever step foot in Japan? And if so, how long were you there for?

There are many things in Japan that you simply just cannot prepare for, no matter what. Some of these things you only experience when you've been in Japan for a longer period of time than the average tourist.

I went to Japan when I was 18 and loved it - didn't have much culture shock there. But I went back there again to study abroad for an entire year - I just got back a few weeks ago. You gain a whole different perspective on things when you're actually living there as opposed to touring there for a week or two.

I still love Japan (going back there to work after I graduate), but its downright silly to say culture shock means you shouldn't be there in the first place.
