There are many things in Japan that you simply just cannot prepare for, no matter what. Some of these things you only experience when you've been in Japan for a longer period of time than the average tourist.
I went to Japan when I was 18 and loved it - didn't have much culture shock there. But I went back there again to study abroad for an entire year - I just got back a few weeks ago. You gain a whole different perspective on things when you're actually living there as opposed to touring there for a week or two.
I still love Japan (going back there to work after I graduate), but its downright silly to say culture shock means you shouldn't be there in the first place.

But I think I said it all wrong. My view of culture
shock (that word) is of where you get to the point where you
dislike the country. What most would call a culture shock I'd call it a cultural experience. My definition is wrong and I guess I should've read the blog first, warri.
