Mechanical Pencils -

Hi,
i have tons of japanese friends here in America and i have noticed and all of them have mechanicalas pencils, such as PILOT DR.GRIP, OXI-GEL..what is so great about this pencils? they are 2 expensive..
also many girls like to have cute pencils and ,,,well i think they spent 2 much money for just cute pencil and school stuff..
