Furisode is a kimono for young unmarried woman. Easily distinguishable by the quality of the materials and the long dropping sleeves, as seen in this example :
These things cost a huge fortune. Fathers will go into debt buying one for their daugther's coming of age, but it's an important gift. In my country by contrast, fathers get their daugther an appointment with the dentist to have all their teeth removed.
