I think a lot of them are more comfortable sitting next to foreign women than devilishly handsome young men likes me-self
. Unless said Japanese person happens to be an interested young woman, then I find them sitting opposite of me, standing nearby or sitting next to me. Of course this is all true mostly closer to Tokyo and Maebashi, in the trains closer to home we all have plenty of space minus the two times in the day high schoolers are going and coming from school.
