Since I role play ryuk, my debates shall deal with the shinigami... ^^. I think the shinigami are a totally lazy bunch of beings. Ive wondered that myself i mean whats the point of having the eyes if you can never really use them :/

Well not many people know of the sinigami's existence! Humans cant really see the sinigami's so they wouldn't believe someone if they stared saying they could see shinigami's and that they were the source of power behind the Kira attacks.... The difference there is that Kira wants people to know he's some kind of Bringer of Justice BECAUSE he wants to scare people out of doing things that are evil or harmful to others. He's trying to make the world a better place on his sense of the way it should be. People consider Kira a bad person because he plays the role of a "god" so to speak. When they believe no one has the right to play god but well god. Kira just believes he's doing whats right.

Is it then simply human ignorance that leads to prejudice? If the humans knew about the shinigami would they attempt to counter attack them? Would there be an SPK to hunt shinigami down? Or can the shinigami be excused saying that it is simply their way of life... if so why can't Kira be excused the same way?...

Well for humans when they get scared and don't understand something they most likely do what any human would do. Kill it. if humans knew shinigama existed and knew a way to go to them they would probably try to kill them :/ because what ever isn't human is always believed to be evil somehow. (not to mention they have death notes O.o) once the human find out about those death notes they would try a attack most likely.
