Let me start off by saying I'm actually in a long-distance relationship right now and am very happy.
I think it truly depends on the person and if you two truly plan on meeting. If you care for someone enough, I don't think it matters how far away you are unless you never meet (for once or ever again). But I can say this: whoever does a long distance relationship must be careful. In the end it truly might be a person just toying with you or some 40-year-old pervert. Don't truly put your heart into it unless you can hear their voice and/or see them on webcam.
