the most important ingredients for sushi are toasted nori (seaweed), short-grain rice, sugar, rice vinegar, and whatever else you would like in your sushi. sashimi is the kind of sushi that everyone thinks of; it is the "raw fish" variation. (in reality, the fish is actually cured by the rice vinegar in the rice). for sashimi, you must get "sashimi grade" FRESH fish. fresh fish will not stink and it will have a nice pure colour; it wont look faded and it will be as firm as fish can be. my reccomendations for fish to have in sashimi are tuna and salmon. there are MANY, MANY, MANY different ingredients to put in sushi!!! popular ingredients are: Asparagus
Avocado
Carrot
Crab - Soft Shelled Crab, Crab Stick
Crawfish
Cream Cheese
Cucumber Daikon - Radish
Eel - Unagi
Eel Sauce
Egg - Tamago
Green Onion - Scallion Jalapeno - Stuffed Jalapeno
Kampyo - Dried Gourd Kiwi
Lemon - Lemon Juice, Lemon Slices Lettuce Lobster Masago - Smelt Fish Roe, Fish Eggs Mayonaisse Pepper - Black Pepper
Salmon Salmon Skin Salt - Sea Salt Seafood Mix Sesame Seeds Shrimp - Tempura Shrimp Squash
Squid
Sweet Sauce Togarashi - Spice Tuna Vinegar Wasabi
Yamagobo - Roots
Yellowtail - Hamachi
i hope that this helps a lot! i really enjoy making and eating sushi, so i hope that you can too! as for ramen, you need to go to japan to get the good stuff; they spend about 24 hrs. making the soup and they make fresh noodles. but you can get maruchan brand ramen in many flavors that you can cook on the stove, or that you can boil water to pour into a cup filled with ramen noodles and seasons. i also really like a kimichi flavor of ramen, but i dont remember what brand it is!!!! I hope all of this helps!
