I am completely new to this forum, and the topic of this thread attracted me. I am from Sweden, and I have two kids (boy born -94 and girl born -96), and it would be interesting to compare with a Japanese parent how they raise their kids, and to discuss the differences in how kids are raised in Japan and in europe (Sweden).
When looking at Japanese movies and TV series, I get the feeling that the Japanese parent is loving, yet very strict and sometimes very demanding towards their children, is that right?
If you are living in Japan, please respond, and tell your view about parenting, and I will try to fill in my view of it.
