If you really want to deliver this note, and keep the peace take out the above sentence (as nice as it is... but way too direct, especially from young gaijin to an older man)
I would replace it with this:
何も分かりませんので、いかんな事すれば、ぜひ教えて ください。
(Bacically, I am new here and don't know anything, so please tell me if I do something wrong.)
Telling your neighbors, who have been there for who knows how long, how to live thier lives is probably not the best introduction. Welcome to being a minority in Japan. If this is the only thing you have to put up with, then you are one of the lucky ones.
