Im seeing a lot of expression and freedom from Japan now (more than ever), because I think the younger generations are getting tired of conformism, and are kind of trying to break free from that.

Huh? You mean you DON'T see fredom of expression? (little typo no biggie, just making sure, because otherwise it would have been a condroction, and wouldnt have made sence)

I don't think the man raped her. When the girl was questioned she said "he was meeting other women, so I thought I would give him the Guillotine."

The girl was clearly mentaly ill. So either the father was inocent...or (I really hope thi isnt what was happining) he was doing things to her, that she liked, or accepted.

Also the younger daughter said that there father "was always kind to us, and never acted violantly"
I dont mean to be a dick or anything but what I posted had no type-os. Let me ask you this in a nice way. Answer me 4 questions and we can move forward in this conversation. And be honest.

1) How old are you?
2) Do you live in Japan? *visiting for 6 months does not count*
3) Are you Japanese?
4) If you are not Japanese and you life here and are older then 20, What do you do for a living?

Let me start

1) 30
2) Raised in Kyoto for 8 years and have been living here for the past 10 years.
3) I am American/German
4) I am a VP for a tier 1 investment bank in the middle of Tokyo.

This is why I ask. Outsiders never see what goes on. On your crime point. My wife is a lawyer. Trust me, there is murder everyday here. A mom just dropped her baby out of a 6 story building because she did not want her BF to find out she had a kid. Well he knows now. Japanese media is still like North/South Korea. They are censored by the government. You will never see a mass injection of murder or rape or anything else in this country. You think the younger generation is trying to break free? Go to Harajuku McDonalds and order a Cheese burger with no pickles. You just stopped business for 30 min. They can not pull this off without checking with the manager and the manager has to pull out the manual.

Look, I dont mean to come and tell you that you are all wrong. Because you are not. I am here to clarify. Everyone here paints this picture of Japan then gets slapped with reality when they get here.

I love living here. and yes it is safer then anywhere else. This is true. But this is the most closed society in asia. Did you know Japan is the only country in Asia that can not speak English? Sure they study in school for 2 years, but they are not like Korea and China who use it as a second language. I love living here because the little robot lifestyle they live allows me to make massive money here. More then I would make in the US. I manage a 37 man full Japanese team at work. All are my direct reports. If I was not there, the whole department would fail.

And another thing, the news.... Dont belive everything. He is a police chief. they are not going to admit anything he did bad. This would loose what little face the have left for the police in Japan. Even Japanese people dont belive their own news. This is something they ARE working on. I am going to post a thread in the general forum... read it.
