The shonen storylines are more to my particular taste as they tend to be less cliched and generally less superficial...but at the same time I am actually more likely to buy a shojo because the artwork is just so much more beautiful and rounded and idealistic and I kind of like that.
My love for this style was also founded through reading Fushigi Yugi.
