As for the link between math and business; the link is basically being logical and knowing how to get to whatever goal it is that you need to reach.
Everything you need to know about businesses and business, you can learn in the training they give you for most jobs (believe me, i've studied business studies and i got 100% in exams just because of working in a games shop and taking interest in things that didn't involve just selling games, ie, i asked to be the guy to look through CV's and i was in charge of giving interviews... (in business studies, they spend about 2 months teaching you about this where as you can learn it in less than one week))
Anyway, the point is, you're more than likely never to use anything you learnt in school once you get a job... so companies usualy go for people that done hard subjects... As for unemployment, yeah you'll prob have a hard time finding a job after finishing uni if 1. you just have an average grade, 2. if you come from an average uni and 3. if you do a subject that isn't that challenging
