It sounds like you need some listening practice. Have you done much listening in your studies? I know it's how I practice pronunciation. I suggest searching the 'net for sound bytes of Japanese, or try some podcasts. I've seen you posting around for language exchange, and that will indeed be the best way, but the next best is listening to pre-recorded Japanese.
