It seems like there are surprisingly few people who have actually been to both cities.
For those of you who chose Tokyo because you "prefer big cities", trust me. Osaka has over 2.5 million people, and is center of the Kansai metro area, which has nearly 20 million.
Tokyo has a huge nightlife, but Osaka's is far from dead. There are all kinds of clubs, live houses and bars open all night long.
Osaka (which I voted for) is very close to Kobe, Kyoto, and Nara and each city is worth spending time in and is unique in its own way.
I chose Osaka for two main reasons. Kansai people are frendlier and more open, and I like the food in Kansai better than in Kanto.
