It IS hard at first, especially that backwards grammar, but something will just click and you'll get it. Find what it is you like about Japan and work out from there. I love the J-punk band "The Blue Hearts". I learned more about grammar learning the lyrics to "Linda Linda" than I did from text books! I think that sometimes we get so buried in learning the language, we forget why we wanted to learn it in the first place. Try to bring some japanese culture in to keep you motivated!
