Yeah, avoiding pre-existing composites might be a problem. Like I said, I only spent five minutes on that. However, it can be done. I suppose if you wanted to ensure accuracy, you'd have to get help from someone who can read Kanji.

Pre-existing composites are "safer" as there is only one way to say them. When you put kanji that don't go together and "make" a name, there might be a dozen ways to read it, and none would be "wrong". Japanese in Japan deal with this issue, as well, as they come up with new names for Japanese babies...

Anyone who can read kanji and knows Japanese will tell you that foreign names are written in katakana.
