Thats really vain, shallow, and generally mean.
Do you want people judging you like that???
it would be a better world if people didnt think/say things like that. no offence.
People should be able to wear whatever makes them happy.
Im goth, old-school goth, and have been for aeons- I dont forsee that changing and Im sure when Im in my 40s people might look at me askance in my velvet dresses and fishnets, with my tattoos. Theyll assume Im corrupting my nonexistant children or theirs, that I ought to be settled down and being a mommy or something. I truly HATE it when people just ASSUME by your appearance and age what your life involves.
Im not going to "give up" being gothic because its a part of who i am. Im not doing it for shock, Id dress this way even if no one ever even looked at me.
So if that lady is in her 30s (oh man that isnt old. lemme tell yah heh) what would you like her wearing? Soccer mom outfits???
Not every woman wants to be a soccer mom.
I say commend that lady for dressing differently, for having the preverbial balls to do it day in day out. Kudos!

Ok, i'm going to desperately try and crawl out of the hole i dug for myself here. I don't mean it the way you think. Maybe i accidentaly sounded like that, didn't mean it. I'm not shallow-minded, i'm not vain and i am most certainly not mean. I don't want to judge her in a bad way, i know what it feels like because i have always been judged negatively for what kind of person i am etc etc blablah.
All i was trying to say is that if you put a cute little japanese (or wherever from) gothic lolita next to the girl i sometimes see the style would look way better on the other girl.
And i didn't say she should give up the way she dresses, and i think it's great that she dares to dress unique every day. I'm studying to be a fashion designer and am also trying to look unique every day and i also get the stares. All i'm saying is that she could look better (keeping her own style) by giving it a little extra thought
I hang around with all kinds of people, also goths (don't own any gothic clothes but love it) and i am not judging anyone, just saying that within a style you have people who dress better than others. The ginger-spice grandma comparison was a little too much, said that coz i was trying to be extra convincing because someone said i sounded shallow-minded. Wich, again, i am not (really really relaly so not
) and after this i hope not too many people will think that i am =S
sorry if i also offended anyone else with the previous post
