I'm not wrong. We're using two different senses of the word brave. If you look up "Garrett", the word it gives with brave is "hardy". The Kanji I picked seemed to fit the sense of "brave and hardy" than did the one you gave.

Not that I'm very skilled with kanji--saiga-jp.com is my god, ftm.
