Some of you may not know this, but Chinese restaurants are VERY common in Japan. Other international food, such as Mexican, Indian, Vietnamese, etc can be extremely hard to find in Japan, especially outside of the very big cities (Tokyo has everything), and it is often not very authentic tasting. But there are tons of Chinese restaurants, even in small towns, and the food is usually very good and authentic. Of course, you won't get a fortune cookie with the meal, since that's an American invention, but it is still nice to get green onion pork or broccoli beef sometimes, for a change from Japanese food all the time and a bit of a "home" (as in, I ate Chinese food in the US quite often).
