Well I think its because in the old times that was something you expressed in private, and maybe its just carried through I mean with how they are with school and things I guess its like how you shouldn't make out in class and you shouldn't make out real heavy around your friends caz it might bother them. And I think that some people in the U.S throw "I love you" around without any real meaning. But that's just my thought on it.
