You don't have to be scared. Sushi is just like any other food and not all of it is raw fish. If you are scared of trying raw fish, try cooked sushi first and kind of work your way up. My first sushi experience was at my friend's apartment the night before a convention. She made the sushi herself and I didn't really care for it at first. Then she brought out California rolls and I was in heaven. The taste....well, it depends on what you get. California rolls have avacado, cucumber, and crab or immatation crab meat in them. It's a very fresh taste when combined with the rice and vinegar (sometimes my crazy friend will use sake...lots and lots of sake. O.o). Honestly I don't care too much for the seaweed, either, but it's not horrible or anything. I just don't like the sticky texture.
