When I was based in Atsugi in 1993 we played it during the summer in large lots or at night at schools or office campuses. It was elaberate stuff too, one time we did a night time beach drop in full cammies and airsofts from a huey helo owned by a big corperate player!

I'd say it dropped off due to Japan's anti-gun climate.
