Male organs and phalluses are prohibited from being shown on television in Japan - ergo the only way to get round the ban is to create a substitute that infers the similarities of said phallus.

i.e. It's a makeshift cock and seeing as Monsters play some part in demonic gang rape - tentacles are a pretty natural substitution for phalluses.

A question posed to me by a good friend that still has me confused is this.
