you really should, as far as convincing your friend goes, you don't need to, just show her pictures from different forum and pictures from harajuku and akiba (do a image search on devilfinder.com or google image) and you are done

You will LOVE Japan.. I almost cry every year when i had to board my flight to leave Narita :'(
