I stopped at Japan for 2 days with my family during one of our travels.
We got around with very basic Japanese... It was an adventure.
Though, I have to admit, I was quite naive at the time, and wasn't able to fully appreciate the experience.
My step-father is a martial artist (Japanese Martial Arts). And, naturally, I am learning from him... Which has since strengthened my interest and understanding of the Japanese people and culture.
Like the many others here, I plan on returning someday.
