My guess is because you can live in one end of Texas and it will be a 2 day drive to get to someone in the other end of Texas. Texas and California are the two states in the U.S. where you might still end up in an unmanageable long-distance relationship. Want to guess how I know that?

I have had a few online relationships that went real-time. But only one of them lasted more than a two or three dates. Most of them were one-time meetings only. The good one lasted 3 years and we are still distant friends. My current housemate is someone I met online, had one date with and decided we should only be friends. And now he has a really nice girlfriend.
