How literate are JF members?

I guess it's a fair question... But I don't see why it would matter.

Personally, I wouldn't say these people are illiterate. It's a common thing, these days, for a person to type in half-written words and abbreviations. Sometimes such people do it because they simply don't care how they write, as long as their message is comprehensible. That doesn't necessarily mean they are incapable of writing correctly.

Or maybe you're referring to incorrect word usage and message structure...
In which case, I can't really provide an explanation; There may be different reasons for this, depending on the individual.

Not everyone is a writer, and I don't expect them to be.
As long as I can understand what they're trying to say, I don't feel it's within my right to correct their writing habits unless it's important.
