And you have been living in Japan for the past 2 years? If so, that is quite impressive.
But you have to admit that you cannot just randomly go out with friends and eat out.

Fish is known to lack pain spots...
But again, this could be very much Japanese excuse to serve live fish to customers.
I do not deny vegetarianism because it is a personal choice like I said previously and I feel that some people could definitely use lean diet.
Obesity has become such a big health problem in many parts of the world.
I see a lot of that since I currently reside in the US and what shocked me was when I came back to Japan and stayed there for a month, I easily lost few pounds by eating Japanese food.
In the near future, I hope more restaurants in Japan recognize the demand for vegetarian food and start offering them at franchise chains as well.
