most people still do 3 A Levels... I don't know the reason for AS, but I thought it was to give us a choice... because after one year, you're meant to drop one of your subjects... The English education system is too specific unlike others, eg, international baccalaureate (which is a lot harder in the sense that it has a lot mroe subjects)
