You are doing Zui Quan? Who is your teacher? There is only a handful of Zui Quan teacher....

Anyways, reply to the above... Aikido, same as all art, has the potential to hurt someone if practice properly.

I was trained in variety of arts, some of the more well known ones will be Koryu Karate, Jiujitsu, Judo, Taekwon Do... some not as well known art will be Ba Chi (not TAI CHI), Sikaran and some other ancient Chinese form. Jiujitsu and Judo is like a long lost cousin to Aikido, you take away all the active technique and you form Aikido. Its true you can't really just initiate and hurt someone with it, but you can definitely hurt someone using Aikido to defend yourself.

And BakaCrisis, Martial Art training is not about hurting people. You should get into "fighting training" instead. If you walk in to any traditional Asian/Oriental based dojo and tell them that you want to hurt your opponent, they will send you out.

Hurting people is the skill, control is the art....
