Actually last weekend I spoke to a few friends of mine that lived in Japan for some time about geishas.
They assured me real geisha's are in no way prostitutes but dancers who presents it is an honor to be in.
So my original idea that whether or not they were prostitutes was split 50/50, I take it back now that I was clarified by someone I actually know.
