Unfortunately, I cannot disagree with much of what you have posted. (what I edited out)
But how about a simple effort that will not make you or anyone else feel put upon or deprived?

Stop using disposable chopsticks. You can carry your own without much trouble, they are easy to wash, and if the billions of people people who use them would stop, it would make a difference for the environment. Not only that, it might become stylish expanding the interest in the utensil as an art form (which it is!)

By setting an example and explaining to those who notice & ask, change can happen.

Restaurants might find it far cheaper to acquire a stock that can be piled in the dishwaser, than to constantly purchase new disposables that add to the mounting cost of their trash removal fees (it really does add up). And customized ones could add to the elegance of the place settings as well as serve as cheap advertising with carryout orders. Customers would keep and use them, unlike the imprinted wrappers that go straight into the trash even before the disposable chopsticks they hold.

Only an open mind and open heart can be filled with life.
