Would you like some Japanese penfriends? -
05-24-2008, 01:44 PM
こんにちは,
Please let me update the information here:
<Jan.2011>
Anyone would like to exchange Valentine's day cards with Japanese kids,
Please LEAVE YOUR MESSAGE HERE(your age and where you live but DO NOT leave your mailing address, phone number or anything like that)
I will PM you our school address later.
<Nov.2010>
Now we are looking for penfriends/penpals for exchanging xmas cards with a small gift and some pictures for fun!
Especially if you are studying Japanese at school,it would be great if you could ask your teacher if she/he is interested in this.
If you think this sounds fun then LEAVE YOUR MESSAGE HERE and I will answer to it.
So other people can read and know what's going on here
then after, I will send your our school address and all that!
My students are 4-11 years old. They can understand when they "hear" it in English, but they just started learning how to write and read in English recently...so I'd like you guys to write for them very simple (but fun!) message with neat hand writing!(some letters we received in the past... it was too hard to figure out what they wrote... it was like a puzzle)
and I have another idea, my students are very small, but most of you guys are teenagers or over... so... if your class (Japanese or Social study or something)at school want to exchange letters to learn the language or cultures and stuff with Japanese students, I will go and talk to some of the highschool or junior high's people if they are interested.(It has to be some kind of a school/class project, not for indivisual)
If you are interested, what are you waiting for?!
Just leave your message and tell us a bit about yourself.
The kids will read your messages too
Have a good day everyone
(I will be back on Wednesday, on a holiday for a while! )

(01Apr2009)
We had many letters from all over the world, thank you everyone!
I passed all the letters to the mothers and children, and they were supposed to write back by now, but I found out some of them haven't...
Some of the student finished our school, so I won't be able to help them anymore.
I am sorry if you haven't received any letter from any of our students.
At the moment, we are only looking for penfriends who are actually coming to Japan this year.
We have actally met one of our penfriend!!
That was great for everyone.
We are looking forward to meeting more of our penfriends from all over the world.
If you are coming to Japan, want to make Japanese friends & want to know more about japan before leaving your country, please pm and tell me about yourself and your plan(coming to Japan) .
If you ARE in Japan, you are welcome to write to us too!
(2009)
Hi there,
We have got enough penpals, thank you very much for your letters.
We received about 30 letters!
Now the kids and their mothers are working very hard to read&understand your message and reply to you, but it's not easy for them to read&write in English,so I hope you don't mind waiting for their letters for a little longer.
At the moment, we are not looking for "penpals", because we received a lot already.
However, if you are planning to visit Japan, we would love to hear from you and welcome you to our school!
Please PM me directly if you are visiting Japan!
Here are the original message I typed before:
(May 2008)
Kon ni chi wa.
I work at an English school in Japan.
We have 30 Japanese kids who would love to have
penpals from all over the world.
If you are interested, please
pm me first and tell me a bit about you.
then I will give you our snail mail address,
then start writing!
At the moment I received more than 50 pms but
received actual letters just 20 of them.
so you still have chance to have Japanese penpals!
We really think this is a very good way to learn the languages
and the culture, so we want only people who can actually
write to us.
just exchanging emails is the easiest way, but
not the best way sometimes.
It's very easy to get bored!Don't you think?
Exchanging actual letters with photos, some little gifts...
are more personal and funner!
Imagine when you find an airmail in your mailbox?
I got really excited when I got a letter from Australia for the first time!
That's the reason why I went to Australia to study English 3 years later.
and also...
If you are a student, please ask your parents if it's OK to join this penpal thing.
because you need some postal stamps for sending letters overseas.
