The thing is is that the story IS geared tward young children. Young children like those stories. Teenagers, Young Adults, Adults not so much.

Y'know it took me awile to figure out it was anime too. Like I rewatched some of the first season for awile and I just now get all the references to Japanese culture. It's kinda like sublminal messaging in a way.
