What happens is kids go to Borders and treat it like a library. They bust the spine and make a new book a used book in a matter of minutes. They don't care (as Payne222 said) as they aren't going to pay for it. What then happens is a new copy of a book is REMOVED from the aisle and can't be sent back to the publisher, so it is resold as a USED book, even though no one has ever purchased it. See how this sucks for publishers?
It's like if someone went to the gorcery store and stuck their finger into every tomato. All the people who went to make the tomato's work just went out the window. The store can't sell the tomatos as they intended, and the grower doesn't get credit for having satisfied customers. It sucks all around really.
Tell me about your summer job, Payne222.
