It's a little pricey, but I've heard Rossetta Stone is a great way to learn a language. I don't know from experience, but the website offers an online tutorial.
Learning Japanese will take time, partially because the writing system is completely different, and also because it's hard work! : D

ive got rossetta stone: havent used it much yet but, the interface feels kinda "low budget" but it seems pretty good
