Every month the Japanese embassy here puts on a free J-movie for people to go and see.
The last one I saw was titled in English "The face of Jizo". In Japanese it was called 父と暮らせば or "living with dad" (?)
The cool thing about this movie for me was that when I left the embassy I only thought it was only an OK movie... but for some reason the movie stuck with me and now that I think about it and the characters and the situation it was really touching.
I don't know if you'll have the same experience but that's my two cents
