For some people, it's just harder to do that, especially if you're just used of always being by yourself or entertaining yourself. For instance, I'm a bit shy. I'm not the type to usually approach people. I'm the type who prefers being approached (reassurance that I'm not bothersome to that person), unless I get a good vibe from said person and know the person somewhat. I grew up as an only child, and have always done things by myself and used of being by myself. In a way, you could say that I'm not as social as I should be.

I like getting to know people too, but it doesn't bother me if I don't. Now, if I'm in a whole other country, I'd probably go out of my way to make sure I get to know people since the people I do know (from home), wouldn't be around.

I think the main time I approach people on my own, is if it's a guy I'm interested in and would like his attention, but, as I pointed out, it's usually someone I've known for a while anyway, like say a coworker or classmate.
