and Malice Mizer is definitely one of the first to put their fingers inside the whole looking like a tranny thing.
i dont know how some people view that as attractive tho...
but their music is just so hollow, there's no substance to it. Mana should never have been allowed to write music.
and their not the last of their kind.
check out Storm Rider. they have a similar sound to X, and they dont try to look pretty either. they're pretty fucking technical too, that guitarist sweeps like a nutbag.
and look at GPKISM. Ken is a carbon copy of Mana. Bad looks and bad music.
(sorry people who know about my problem, i couldnt find another example right now, i like just woke up)
As I said before, in the post you quoted, Malice Mizer was the main focus on looks, and X Japan was more on the music. Malice Mizer music wasn't the best, I agree. But the only thing they lacked, as far as I can from your view, is the shredding and the hardcore guitars.

Do remember not all music is supposed to have non stop shredding. The reason I loved Malice Mizer music was because they used different instruments. Which went with their looks. They were dressed as some sort of classy, victorian people. In victorian times, they played the violin, cello and different instruments.

So, I disagree with that fact that Mana created bad music. It suited their look, and the music was well composed for it's style.

Again, like I said before. There is ALOT more to music than sweeps. If that's all I liked in music, I'd be listening to Dragonforce. I have no doubt, that no band out there now, can create the ballads like X Japan. None.

For example, X-Japan's the Art of Life. If you listen to that, you know where Yoshiki hits the keyboard? Most people think that it's a bad piece of composing there. But, within' the style and the song, he's got the meaning and the feeling spot on.

No one. Can ever compare to X-Japan in my eyes. X-Japan is on a different level.

Here's something for you, if you enjoy shredding alot, check out Galneryus. Now, THERES a band that makes shredding an art.

@Claire: Ofcourse we cannot expect all bands to sound different. But that doesn't mean we have to like them either.

And that's the thing, when you listen to SCREW, it's the exact same as the GazettE.

Think of it this way. You have 2 dolls. They look exactly the same. One is called Anna, the other is called Rachel. Anna was made first, so people say "Rachel looks just like Anna", it's not "idolising" The GazettE, it's just pointing out that Screw could not be unique, and thus had to follow the exact sound of another band to become famous.
