I just HAD to reply to this.
Winny is NOT spyware. It is NOT a virus. It`s a P2P program. Yes, you can download spyware or viruses with it... But Winny itself is *completely* harmless. It`s like Bittorrent.
I really HATE it when the news goes on about how awful Winny is, and acts as if it just magically appeared on these people`s computers.
No, they downloaded it - probably to trade mp3s or porn or warez or something... And they SCREWED up and didn`t bother to do a virus check on the stuff they downloaded. And actually, in most of these cases, there wasn`t even a virus involved! They chose to share the whole contents of their computer (it`s not automatic - you have to go through menus and confirm it countless times) which just happened to include sensitive information. So, despite being TOTALLY in the wrong - why on earth were they doing that at work, on a work pc??? - they try to blame it on the software to save their own job.
