My girlfriend of 3 years decided not to marry me and live in the US. I was very sad for awhile, but realized she wasn't the right person for me. I was friends with the lady I later married during this time but couldn't see how right she was for me because of my love for the other. I am very happy things worked out the way they did. Everything happens for a reason.
