I don't need a piece of paper to show that I love someone. The fact is, it's more than a piece of paper, in many ways. If you're not married, you can't visit your "boyfriend" in the hospital if he's been in an accident. Married couples also report less stress, more happiness, and better and more frequent sex. Married men (and I hope women) receive more frequent promotions and make more money at work. And the tax breaks, hoo boy.

If you're going to be with someone for the long haul, marriage is the smart thing to do. Saying "we don't need paper to prove love" is fanciful thinking - relationships should be about more than love, shouldn't they?

People have abused and defiled marriage, and people are always complaining about it (not marriage, but monogamy + co-habitation, the legal part isn't the bad thing) so I can see why this generation fears it
