If you're going to be with someone for the long haul, marriage is the smart thing to do. Saying "we don't need paper to prove love" is fanciful thinking - relationships should be about more than love, shouldn't they?
People have abused and defiled marriage, and people are always complaining about it (not marriage, but monogamy + co-habitation, the legal part isn't the bad thing) so I can see why this generation fears it

Now look at the post that tocrayzay responded to about what i read. This shows that marriage as a whole is looked differently upon if different parts of the world, he said they marry if they feel the need. That means what holds true to here in the US may not be so else where. He said this about Germany and iv gotten reports from England and Sweden as well that its similar. Im curious as to why this is happening in Europe and why divorce is on the rise here.
I say do what you want if you want to get married and its not just for tax benefits or some other mute point and 2 people truly care about each other and want to share their life together then im all for it. However that seems to be rare nowadays I dont find marriage scary at all i would welcome it with the right person. What i fear is the staggering number of divorces in this country thats the scary part.
