Actually the divorce rate is down and has been dropping in the US since the peak in the 80s at about 50%. Now it is closer to 40% which is still really high, but keep in mind a lot of those people get remarried, then divorce again, so 40% of marriages end in divorce doesn't mean that 40% of people who get married also get divorced. It is lower than that. Also the divorce rate drops dramatically for first marriages between people who are over the age of 25.
