Couples that split up and get back together never last. If the problem was big enough to break you up, then it should be too big to allow you to reconcile - unless, of course, you never took your relationship seriously. And no one ever "falls out of love" - one or both partners just quit trying.

Just...ask...her. You can't strategize this. You can't plan this. You'll never know what she'll say or how you'll react. There's no such thing as being "prepared". Do it, or don't.
