This is a question you should be asking HIM, not people who don`t even know you or your boyfriend.

If he says that you`re not engaged, then I`d say it`s a pretty good indication that you aren`t. If you were, he`d have no reason to deny it - especially to you. If he were denying it to family and saying that he was engaged to you in private that would be one thing, but that doesn`t seem to be what is happening in your case.

My husband and I decided that we were going to get married - announced it to his family, I made the trip to announce it to my family... And then we filed the papers. I don`t believe there was any real "engagement" as there was never a "proposal" - we discussed it together, and decided together.
